So you want to do what the “cool kids” are doing? Who gives a shit who is cool. Your self-worth isn’t tied to a job anyway. Work as if those people are working against you. They’re doing the kinds of things you want to be doing, so take back your value and work as if you were in their position.

Start a business and have fun with it. Don’t worry about what is or isn’t the right things to get you accepted to the cool kids table. Things will get bigger with time and dedication and at some point there will be someone looking up to you before you know it. Don’t be afraid to role the dice on yourself.

Put value in things that are valuable for your career and the direction you want to go in. Everything else can take a backseat. Don’t get to a position where you have to work to pay back what you owe. Find fulfillment beyond just the work you are doing. Become better at saying no as well as being strategic about what you take on.

As you build a new chapter of your career, it’s okay to freak out. It’s okay to be scared. It’s okay to feel the things you’re feeling. Give yourself time to process.
